But I wouldn't say it's as simple as gender critical rants, though there's probably something to the politics angle. I know because when I do the that same thing- whether it's a photo I screenshot or an article I post or just a plain string of text- it doesn't get seen as much as a silly happy birthday photo or an iced coffee meme. There are also seems to be less of a crowd of interesting people who willingly engage with discussion on FB than in better times in the past. Unfortunately, a lot of the types who still do are insufferable one.

I like to think there's a still a place for soliciting opinion and debate on FB. But the prospect of you writing stuff on your own in bloggage form is much more worthwhile, I think.Brianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05135945142600335011noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17665107.post-9974605024551552372021-05-03T12:37:20.748-07:002021-05-03T12:37:20.748-07:00Want Seventh-Heaven?

Besides being insulting and xenophobic on its face, it also smacks of ignorance about the world and disdain fostered by years of grotesque manifest-destiny jingoism. Yuck. There is nothing inherently or finally better about people in the USA, "as [I] should know, since [I]'ve had the opportunities to reside & work in other parts, not just travel and be a tourist" -- and it is my fond hope that United Statesians can drop their misguided exceptionalism and stop thinking in such a sad manner. lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01550290075640463707noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17665107.post-62388382366400718182018-03-28T10:25:26.411-07:002018-03-28T10:25:26.411-07:00Linda, your anger & displeasure with people i...Linda, your anger & displeasure with people is evident. Humans do some things which one wonders "Why?" But that's humans. And humans in other parts of the world are a lot worse than here in the USA, as you should know, since you've had the opportunities to reside & work in other parts, not just travel and be a tourist. I hope you'll do what you can for Linda, and not get too upset over what others do, over which you have no control. Other than to vote and speak out, of course. But it is an enigma, that some people can invent so many things, but society as a whole has so many problems that don't seem to improve. Most people don't think logically, they go on emotion and first thought. So we struggle. I just feel like we need to carry on, never give up the fight for improvement, and don't let the situations wear us down into despair. As Scarlett and Annie said, "Tomorrow is another day." and "The sun will come out tomorrow." Or as the philosopher Chet likes to say, "Expect the worst, hope for the best, and deal with whatever comes."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17665107.post-52536552597269674112018-03-17T19:56:00.384-07:002018-03-17T19:56:00.384-07:00OK, I'll bite. Now with lighting everywhere, it probably doesn't matter any more. But it did stimulate things many years ago. Except in Arizona, where they refuse to fall for this communist plot. Arizonan's however, for the most part, start the day earlier in the clock, whether it is construction or some industries. So Arizonal accomplishes the same things just differently. Arizona doesn't do some outdoor things like kids baseball in the summer, it does this in the Spring, while school is still in session. Arizonan's complain it is too hot in summer, and DST would make it even hotter. HMMM? Not sure how the weather is affected by the clock, someone needs to explain that one to me. Or I suppose we could do like China and just go to one timezone. I deleted (?) my Facebook account when I received a notification that someone had added my phone number. Many years ago. And I'm curious as to what he meant. More on this later. Regarding Austen and Faulkner, first of all, I have read some Faulkner but I hated his stuff back in the h.s. day and have only recently started realizing I might have been an idiot keeping up my strong disdain for and avoidance of him for 20 years. He won two Pulitzers. TWO! This year I want to finally read those two novels of his. (Hint: They aren't his most famous ones.) Austen, I had resistance to her forever and then I read something in Boston, Pride and Prejudice, I think? I can't even remember. It might have been Sense and Sensibility. And I can't remember anything about it. Like, whether I finished it. So you could say that I need to do some Austening, too...lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01550290075640463707noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17665107.post-37465020608847594062015-01-03T20:19:15.692-07:002015-01-03T20:19:15.692-07:00OK. Also, this year I intend to read a couple of very famous authors I have not read, namely, Austen and Faulkner. Correct, I've never read either. Don't shoot me. I got a third of the way through As I Lay Dying and quit. But W. & P. is on my list. The book has been sitting there a long time. Like Herodotus. I want to read him, too. And De Tocqueville.
I have BIG plans!
Oh, and by the way, I belong to stand-up comics' book club.
